I hold a B.S. in Commerce and a Ph.D. in Theology, Ethics, and Culture from the University of Virginia, where I have also been an adjunct professor of religious studies and philosophy. I have earned 2 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (hospital chaplain training) at the University of Virginia medical center.

I have studied ethics, philosophy, and theology for 15+ years because those fields explore fundamental aspects of being alive and being human. They ask the big and binding questions that bend my brain and move my heart. My mission is to connect that wisdom to everyday life — and to have some fun along the way.

Generally, I earn a living as a writer/editor and through my executive coaching and strategy practice. Sometimes, I also teach. Prior to going indie, I was chief strategy officer at Avalon Consulting, a prominent marketing agency serving nonprofits. (View my online c.v.)

I live in Charlottesville, Va with my husband Andy and 3 kids, Abe, Annie and Leo.
